Here’s what to expect during your
Parent-Child introductory visit.

Toddlers react differently to new, stimulating environments. Remember that your child is entering a completely new experience: new classmates, a new energetic teacher and a new bright and colorful world.
Don’t be surprised if your normal outgoing child clings to you for a minute or more when it’s time to start class. Or takes off and chooses to explore instead of “participate with the group”. This is perfectly normal!
While Aurora Kids is loads of fun, it’s a teaching environment. We have age-appropriately structured activities the class participates in as a group as well as supervised exploration. All aspects of class are designed to encourage fitness, gymnastics, socialization, and overall development. We’ll help you & your child understand that structure but please don’t feel the need to force your child to do any activity they don’t want to. It is normal for kids up to 3 years old to wander away until they get used to the structure. Keep in mind that exploration teaches problem solving skills and allows kids to join the group when they are ready and feel safe. Be patient with your child while they learn all the different aspects of class.
The best way to improve a child’s participation and listening skills is to provide lots of positive feedback and role-model the social behavior you’d like them to exhibit. If the adults in class are positive participants in the group, the kids will learn that’s where the fun is!
Teachers will explain each part of class as it progresses, demonstrate skills, give safety and skill advice and show proper spotting techniques. You are always welcome to ask questions or for more help during class.
